Be On The Lookout

By Max | October 23, 2007

I have been checking Sitepoint frequently lately, and there just aren’t a lot of quality sites for sale right now. The few decent ones that have popped up got sold pretty quickly so I missed out on even trying to evaluate. This game takes patience. Has anyone bought anything recently? I would love to hear about your experiences.

I’m very interested in one offering which, coincidentally enough, involved something that I needed or was interested in. Not sure if I want to buy it or not since I’ve never done this sort of thing before.

If you have not already done so you might want to check a site like http://websitebroker.com . They have a lot of new listings of sites for sale every day.

Seems things have picked up now. They seem to follow the general B2B business rule – business is slow in Sept/Oct and Dec, and picks up Jan/Feb and July.

I agree those sites are like fast selling hotcakes. Don’t you worry you will find one if its really meant for you.

I agree thatyou should be specific on what you are looking in surfing the net. But how about if you wanted to know something that is still unknown to you:)

I bought a games/video site in Oct 2007 for $400, thinking I could make $3-5/day based on traffic of 700 uniques/day. Turned out the seller had various traffic programs pouring traffic into the site that disappeared after a week so despite optimizing the adsense layout and hooking it up to my other game sites to create traffic it is only making $1/day. Lesson learned and it will still be in profit by the end of 2008.
