World Of Warcraft Fansite Sells For $1 Million

The sky is the limit in the web biz. I just read today that the website Wowhead has sold for $1 million. Thats an incredible sum for a fansite of a video game franchise.
I think that this site generates a lot of revenue by selling in game items. I don’t know the details of all this, but apparently gaming fansites can become big businesses.

The virtual-commmerce things puzzles me. I don’t understand why anyone would want to buy an item with real money to use in a video game.
