NetBusinessBlog Sells For $13,000
By Max | May 30, 2007
A few days ago, I wrote about this site. It sold for much more than I thought it would bringing in a total of $13,000. Wow. I guess the new buyer didn’t read my analysis. I suspect that this buyer must have some big plans for the site’s existing traffic and the niche involved to justify the price paid.

Your analysis brought up some good points, mainly that someone who buys a blog really has to know the niche if they plan to see it continue to succeed.
I am a little offended at your attacks on my character though. If I was hiding anything, how did you manage to come up with the evidence? Super detective abilities I guess?
All information needed for the purchase was out there. I uploaded 3 screenshots to SitePoint to give potential buyers an “at a glance” view of the site and uploaded further information for serious buyers. No hiding.

I didn’t mean to offend, and I even considered offering on the site myself. The things that I mentioned popped up which I thought were misleading (not hidden), and thats why I didn’t make an offer.
I hope I didn’t impact your sale, because your site does have its share of positives. I would have loved to get my hands on the RSS readership and the content is top notch.
My main concerns were with the 2 images posted alongside the auction. Why did you post the April traffic graph alongside the sales listing, when you had the May graph for most of the month? The April graph was older and was slightly inflated due to hitinvestor traffic.
The second image had referrer information but it was not for the month of April. If you chose to show the April traffic graph, why not also the April referrer graph? Was it because of the hitinvestor traffic that month?
In any case I have removed any comments from that post suggesting that you did anything deliberately.
Where are you from in SC? I am from Clover.

I guess it did look a little odd to have April traffic and May referrer - I didn’t even think about it really. I did April traffic because it was a full month and I did May referrer because it was the latest and didn’t really matter if it was full or not.
I suppose I should have put the same month up for both, but I just didn’t think about it.

The new owner has super powers and is up for this challenge!
Hopefully I can pull of this mammoth task…will you be watching me?

Adie,
After reading your first post at NBB, I am sure you can pull it off. I’ll be checking in regularly to see if I can learn some things about ecommerce. I don’t have much experience in that area.
